What, how, why

What We Do

The Kees Eijrond Foundation (KEF) was founded in 1991 in Utrecht with the aim of supporting artistic creation and cultural development. Over the past 30 years, it has supported numerous cultural projects. In 2022, the Foundation opened a permanent representation in Lisbon, the residence of its founder, where its cultural programming is currently concentrated. The Foundation's mission, approved by its Board of Directors, consists in practice of:

Supporting artistic creation in its most varied expressions, such as Theatre, Dance, Literature, Music, Visual Arts, Cinema, and Architectural, Ecological and Landscape Heritage.

Supporting transdisciplinary projects that promote knowledge and contribute to contemporary debate.

Supporting social and educational actions that develop community empowerment dynamics in areas of low artistic density.

How We Do It

Slowly, guided, in the words of its founder, by a 100-year plan. Based on listening to the communities we believe we can contribute to.

Through open calls and an artistic residency program.

In partnership with cultural agents and institutions throughout Portugal and the Netherlands.

Why we do it:

Because we believe that art is a fundamental expression of the human condition and plays a central role in critical awareness and personal and collective development, we have taken on the mission of creating a space for playful expression, where it is possible to foster new possibilities for thought and experience.
